Although MySQL is very widely used in the Open Source scene it certainly is not the only RDBMS on the market. With the uncertainty of the future of Sun (who own the rights to MySQL) after the Oracle buy it it may be a good time to look at other alternatives. For a long time the fans of Postgres have expounded the superiority of the product. With the new version in Beta several new features adds strength to their voices.
